:: Welcoming members of the press to QRC events
The members of the QRC practice rocketry, which involves the construction and flight of experimental aircraft powered by rocket propellant; it's a fast, powerful and potentially dangerous science. Because of this, the club must observe all possible safety precautions to ensure our launch events are held in a safe way, keeping members and spectators on or near the site clear of any danger.
The QRC staff ensures launches are directed towards a secured field and that spectators are well directed to avoid areas of danger. With a lot of people attending on-site, or with the presence of members of the press and the equipment they typically bring along (cameras, sound and video wires, etc) the clutter can eventually overwhelm the staff, thus resulting in unwanted lower monitoring standards, which can in turn hinder the safety of folks at the launch.
To ensure an adequate reception for ayn members of the press and to allow the QRC to take additional safety measures,
we appreciate when any member of the press who would like to attend and report on one of our launch events notifies us of this intention a few days before the event begins. This can be done using our
press access request form below.
